Focus: Dang Wangi and its shifting streetscape in Kuala Lumpur
Explores Malaysian modernist architecture, overlooked infrastructure, and urban memory
Combines photography, archival references, documentation, and personal reflection
KL PRETTY: Dang Wangi 02 is a close look at a familiar part of Kuala Lumpur that refuses to stay still. From awkward crossings and street furniture to fading buildings, elevators, tiled façades, and bright orange railings, it follows the small details that give Dang Wangi its particular character.
Through photographs, fragments, and reflective writing, this issue traces the tension between preservation and “improvement” — asking what a city loses when its rough edges, strange corners, and everyday landmarks are quietly replaced.
Part of the ongoing KL PRETTY series, Dang Wangi 02 is a photographic and personal record of Kuala Lumpur’s overlooked architecture, textures, and atmosphere.
